'Star Wars' Icon Reveals Why He Almost Abandoned Acting On-Screen

Mark Hamill, the Hollywood iconfamous for his performance as Jedi Master Luke Skywalker throughout the entire Star Wars franchise, is seeing his career undergo a well-deserved resurgence. In the upcoming Stephen King adaptation, The Long Walk, Hamill will be featured in a role that isn't very common for the actor: he will be starring as the main antagonist, the Major, a ruthless villain leading a totalitarian government. Though we've seen more of him recently, Hamill's return was not exactly a matter of luck. The actor has admitted that he lacked motivation, but also said that a few interesting roles convinced him that his talents extended beyond voice work.
