Supergrass have announced a 20th anniversary edition of ‘Road To Rouen’ with contemplative “lost single” ‘Don’t Leave Me Alone’.

They’ll be celebrating two decades since they released their fifth studio album with an expanded reissue of the record, which is set for release on October 3rd via BMG. You can pre-order here.

Additionally, frontman Gaz Coombes and co. have today released ‘Don’t Leave Me Alone’ – a previously unheard studio track from the album sessions. The entire album has been fully remastered for its 2025 release, which will also feature additional unheard live recordings.

Speaking about the new release, bassist and founding member Mick Quinn said: “From a lost winter in the French countryside we attempted an experimental, uplifting record far outside our comfort zone. ‘Road To Rouen’ became a compact joy that still holds a cherished place in our hearts. Vive la différence.”

Originally released in 2005, ‘Road to Rouen‘ was a pivotal moment for the band, with NME noting that year they appeared to be “at last hitting their stride, finding out who they are and sounding like it’s finally making them happy”.

The record marked a distinct departure from their usual sound, featuring more plaintive lyrics and the introduction of orchestral arrangements.

On fan-favourite ‘St Petersburg’, the review continued: “A broken-hearted lament strung out across a piano part so lonesome every other instrument appears to be here just for support, it features a melody seemingly divined directly from the soundtrack to some John Barry spy film from 1965 and ends with the most gorgeous string quartet winding in on itself.”

The reissue features unheard live recordings and has been entirely remastered. It will be made available digitally, on a Gatefold 2LP Petrol and Forest Green vinyl with printed inner sleeves and 2CD digisleeve with both physical formats accompanied by a booklet with liner notes written by Mark Radcliffe.

Earlier on this year, the band marked another milestone and celebrated their seminal album ‘I Should Coco’ at their Glastonbury 2025 set.

Speaking about their 2025 tour late last year, frontman Gaz Coombes told NME: “It’s cool, man. It’s been about a year in the making. It’s just such a great record and really means a lot to us.

“The great thing about it is that this record is part of our DNA. It’s mad that 30 years later, we’re still able to pull off that energetic, youthful chemistry on stage and read each other in that way. Although it’s a 30-year-old record, we all feel really connected to it.”

The Britpop icons split in 2010, before announcing their return in 2019 on a mission to “bring joy into a slightly disturbed world”.
