Watch IDLES bring out Danny Nedelko as they complete two-night Bristol homecoming

IDLES brought out Danny Nedelko to close their two-night Bristol homecoming. See the footage below.
The band’s only UK shows of 2025 took place on Friday and Saturday night (August 1 and 2) at Bristol’s Queen Square. They were joined by the likes of Soft Play, Lambrini Girls, dubstep DJ and producer Sicaria, The Voidz, Hinds, a range of local DJs, and many more.
Last night (August 2), the band celebrated their two-night stint with ‘Danny Nedelko’, using the penultimate song of their set to bring out the track’s namesake.
The song, which is taken from their 2018 album ‘Joy as an Act of Resistance‘, criticises nationalism in the UK and celebrates immigrants including Nedelko, the Heavy Lungs frontman who is a close friend of the band and a Ukrainian immigrant.
It was written after the band saw PJ Harvey read John Donne’s poem ‘No Man Is An Island’ at Glastonbury 2016, and they regularly dedicate performances of it to foreigners in the UK. Check out the moment below.

Speaking to NME about the show, frontman Joe Talbot called it “The venn diagram of everything we love,” adding: “It took me a long time to get the line-up right. We didn’t just want to succumb to availability – we wanted to make it the best it can be. We wanted it to be a beautiful mix of everything we’re into and everything we love. It worked out really well.”
On the first night, between songs, Talbolt said: “Don’t believe it, the internet is a lie,” adding: “there are good human beings everywhere, go out there and fucking find them. We need to get together and show each other love and remind us what it is to be human beings,” per Bristol Live.

Elsewhere during the gigs, a huge QR code was put up on the screens next to the stage, encouraging fans to donate to the Medical Aid for Palestinians charity, per Bristol Live.
It comes after the Bristol band dedicated their Primavera Sound Festival 2025 set to Palestine. Talbot kicked off the band’s set by yelling “Free Palestine!” right at the start of their opening number ‘Colossus’, and the band dedicated the entirety of their set to Palestine.
The band also recently signed a letter from Heavenly Recordings defending artists’ freedom of expression in the wake of the charges facing Kneecap. Speaking to NME about their responsibility to speak up, Talbot said: “I think the reaction and the mobility of anti-fascists online have already turned the narrative.
“The people are speaking up and it’s empowering,” he continued. “So much so that the Labour government had to acknowledge the genocide. I think that the court case is a distraction tactic by the right wing press and a lesson in being careful in what you say on stage as they can and will be weaponised. Free Palestine!”
Tabolt also told us about how they mark “the end of an era”, and how they’re already looking to the next one in working on “more driven” new material.
“We’ve recorded a bunch of songs,” he said. “We’ve got like 10 songs and we’re going to go back and do a bunch more. We’re doing some other projects in between, but we’re going to come back to the album later in the year and get it finished. We’re recording with Kenny [Beats] and Nigel [Godrich] again. It’s really magic, I can’t wait.”
He later added: “We’ve been doing a film project and a computer game project. They are going well. We’ve been working with a composer and doing a score in a studio, which is really cool. I’ve learned a lot, and it’s been really great. It’s been a really busy year, considering I didn’t think it would be busy.”
In other IDLES-related news, last month Tony Hawk revealed that he made sure the soundtrack to Pro Skater 3+4 featured the music of both Fontaines D.C. and IDLES.
They also recently shared a new track, ‘Rabbit Run’, which is taken from Darren Aronofsky’s upcoming feature film Caught Stealing.
