On Friday (May 30), the ‘Flowers’ hitmaker singer made a surprise appearance at the ‘Something Beautiful Ball’ release day celebrations hosted by DJ Jon Ali and Olive at the 3 Dollar Bill club in Brooklyn, New York.
She reportedly arrived at the venue at around 12:45am, and gave a lengthy speech celebrating the queer community and her fans. “You’re more than an audience,” she told the crowd. “You’re more than a listener. You’re more than a fan. To me, you are a deep inspiration, and literally there would be no genre for me if there was no gay culture.”
She then took over the DJ booth and sang new tracks ‘Easy Lover’ and ‘Every Girl You’ve Ever Loved’, both taken from her newest album, ‘Something Beautiful’.

The Brooklyn show followed a brief live set at the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles on Tuesday (May 27), where, according to Billboard, she personally invited a group of fans to the event, which was billed as a listening session.
At one point in the evening, Cyrus revealed that ‘Something Beautiful’ was “just the appetiser” for her 10th full-length effort, telling those in attendance: “My next album is about to be extremely experimental, so have fun with that.”
Cyrus is credited as an executive producer on ‘Something Beautiful’, alongside Shawn Everett (Kacey Musgraves, Alabama Shakes), and had previously suggested that the “bold” album would be inspired by Pink Floyd’s ‘The Wall’, “but with a better wardrobe and more glamorous and filled with pop culture”.
In NME’s four-star review of the record, Nick Levine wrote: “Featuring 13 tracks that unfurl over 53 minutes, ‘Something Beautiful’ is sprawling and apparently unperturbed by contemporary chart trends.
“It’s difficult to think of a Spotify playlist that might accommodate ‘Reborn’, which sounds a bit like an Andrew Lloyd Webber show tune written on mild hallucinogens. So while ‘Something Beautiful’ probably isn’t Cyrus’s most hit-packed album, it does feel like a fully realised artistic statement. This post-genre pop star has pulled off another pretty big swing.”
