Nine Inch Nails have broken out some rarities as they kicked off their ‘Peel It Back’ tour in Dublin. Check out footage and the setlist below.

The first of the band’s UK and European tour dates kicked off last night in Dublin (June 15) and was held at the 3Arena. It marked their first live performance in three years, and their first show in the Republic Of Ireland since 2009, as per Setlist.FM.

Introducing the new ‘Peel It Back’ tour, the opening night showcased a four-act structure, which included 20 songs in the setlist and saw them revisit some deep-cuts from across their catalogue.

There were two stages lined up for the 3Arena show – the main stage, and a B-stage. The latter was located in the middle of the audience and included elaborate lighting and visuals.

Trent Reznor and Co. kicked off the show on the B-stage, opening with back-to-back renditions of ‘Right Where It Belongs’, ‘Ruiner’, and ‘Piggy’. This marked the first time any of these three had been played live since 2009.

Moving over to the main stage for Act Two, the band broke into fan favourites including ‘March of the Pigs’, ‘The Frail’, ‘Copy of A’, and ‘Gave Up’, before moving back to the more intimate B-stage for the third act.

This saw them bring out opener Boys Noize for three live collaborations. These were ‘Vessel’ – which hadn’t been played live since 2014 – and ‘Came Back Haunted’, as well as a cover of How To Destroy Angel’s ‘Parasite’.

Support from Boys Noize – the alias of artist, DJ, and producer Alex Ridha – comes following him working with the likes of A$AP Rocky, Lady Gaga, Frank Ocean, Skrillex, Pussy Riot, Shygirl, Tommy Cash and more. He also has a longtime relationship with Nine Inch Nails, working with Reznor and Atticus Ross to create the score for the hit film Challengers, as well as for Oliver Stone’s Snowdon.

He’ll remain on tour with Nine Inch Nails throughout 2025 – opening for them all the way through their remaining dates in the UK, Europe and the US.

For the fourth and final act, Reznor and co. wrapped up with some of their biggest hits, including ‘Closer’, ‘The Hand That Feeds’, ‘Head Like a Hole’, and ‘Hurt’, as well as their cover of David Bowie’s ‘I’m Afraid of Americans’.

“It’s hard to choose just four photos from tonight’s fucking fantastic Nine Inch Nails show at the 3Arena in Dublin, but I think these give a good idea of the amazing staging and lighting/video effects,” another added, while a fourth shared: “Opening night perfection! We were at intimate stage in middle! From there they gave us a synth rave exhibition! Main stage rocked hard! Exceptional stage show – visuals, lights, sound all amazing!!”

The band first confirmed that they would be touring in 2025 at the start of the year when information leaked online. The official announcement was soon delayed, though, due to the Los Angeles wildfires.

At the end of last year, Reznor revealed that NIN had been working on new material too, saying that the band were “ready to be back in the driver’s seat”. A new record would mark their first since the surprise 2020 ambient double album ‘Ghosts V-VI’, which followed 2018’s ‘Bad Witch’.
