Will ‘The Rehearsal’ get a season three? 

Nathan Fielder’s head-scrambling docu-comedy series The Rehearsal has just finished its second season – can fans expect a third? Read on to find out.

The HBO show sees Fielder play a fictionalised version of himself as he helps ordinary people rehearse for difficult conversations or life events through the use of elaborately constructed sets and hired actors. 

The second run of six episodes debuted on April 10 and wrapped on May 25, with US viewers able to watch via the streaming service Max. In the UK, all six episodes were made available to watch on Sky and NOW TV from May 26. 

The reviews for The Rehearsal have been universally positive, with the new season sitting on a 98 per cent fresh rating on the reviews aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes at time of writing. 

The show made headlines when an episode saw Fielder comparing streamer Paramount+ to Nazi Germany, after discovering that an episode of his previous show – Nathan For You – had been scrubbed from the platform. 

Fielder also got into a spat with the US Federal Aviation Administration, describing them as “dumb” after they said the show claimed that pilot communications are to blame for airline disasters. 

Will The Rehearsal get a season three? 

As it stands, there has been no official word from HBO on whether the show will be returning for a third season. 

The second season received its green light two months after the first season wrapped, so it may be that if it will be returning, we will hear over the course of this summer – perhaps late July or early August. 

The show is a critical hit and has a lot of people talking, so HBO may be tempted to coax Fielder into creating more of The Rehearsal, despite the fact that the show’s high concept and elaborate staging requires unusually high production costs for a series of its nature. 

Nathan For You ran for four seasons, indicating that Fielder may be open to extending his shows further than The Rehearsal has already gone, but fans will have to wait a little longer for the future of the show to be revealed.
