50 Years Later, 'Monty Python and the Holy Grail' Still Holds Up

It's often thought that comedies don't age very well. They frequently depend on mining the social mores of their day for laughs, and as those mores change over time, so does an audience's understanding of what's funny. Most viewers have probably had the experience of watching a comedy from their youth, only to find themselves cringing at jokes they previously found hilarious. But while many older comedies have lost their punch, some have managed to stay funny year after year, decade after decade. One such film recently celebrated its 50th anniversary: Monty Python and the Holy Grail, the venerable British comedy troupe's second feature, released on April 3rd, 1975.
