‘Baldur’s Gate 3’ fans celebrate “one of the best games ever made” as final update is released

The final major update for Baldur’s Gate 3 has been released and fans are paying tribute to “one of the best games ever made”.
Baldur’s Gate 3 was originally released in August 2023 and despite massive success, developers Larian Studios went on to confirm that they wouldn’t be working on a DLC or a sequel.“We’re not going to make [what] everybody is expecting. We’re going to move on,” explained CEO Swen Vincke.
Earlier this week, the final major update for Baldur’s Gate 3 was released, adding a number of fan-requested features including a new photo mode, cross-play and a new subclasses for all existing classes. The complete patch notes for The Final Update can be found here.
Alongside the update, Larian Studios released a statement that thanked the fans for their support. “You helped us make Baldur’s Gate 3 a bigger success than we could’ve ever hoped for, and that passion could keep us tweaking things and making changes until the end of time. But then we’d never be able to create something new.”
“Couldn’t have said it better myself. Thank you from all of us. I hope you enjoy this one,” added Vincke.

“It’s is one of the best games ever made,” replied one fan. “It’s a masterpiece and I will be playing it and replaying it for many years to come. Thank you so much,” added another. “What they did with Baldur’s Gate 3 should be a standard for gaming,” wrote a third fan.
“Baldur’s Gate 3 will go down as one of those generational masterpieces that people still play years and years later,” shared another fan. “It has deserved every bit of praise and every award. Truly a perfect example of how to make a game! I am looking forward to whatever Larian make next.”
Larian hasn’t revealed details of it’s next move but has teased two new projects that will be “even better” than Baldur’s Gate 3, with the “very ambitious” RPGs based on fresh IPs. As part of their Christmas countdown, Vincke teased a “big” game that needs “a lot more time in the oven”.
However this isn’t the end of Baldur’s Gate as Wizards Of The Coast, who owns the Dungeons & Dragons-inspired Baldur’s Gate IP, have confirmed it will continue the series.
In other news, a number of fans excited for The Witcher 4 are being targeted by scammers offering early access to the game.
