Divisive 2013 Action Movie 'White House Down' Leaving Netflix in August

A lot of great movies and series are leaving Netflix at the start of August 2025, and one of the most divisive and unabashedly fun action films is part of that list. The streamer is already host to some phenomenal modern action movies, including Tom Hardy's Havoc, The Old Guard franchise, David Fincher's The Killer, and the 2024 hit Carry-On. But it's a decade-old movie that, despite being slated by critics, has become a cult favorite among action aficionados. While the plot archetype has never gone out of style, the 2010s saw a shocking number of "lone-wolf cop saves the President-esque" movies hitting theaters, and this film is arguably the best of that very niche sub-genre (alongside Gerard Butler's Olympus Has Fallen). The film may have been a disappointment to critics and underperformed at the box office, but it deserves your time before it leaves Netflix for good.
