Fans think they’ve cracked the code of Lewis Capaldi playing secret Glastonbury 2025 set with new single ‘Survive’ incoming

Lewis Capaldi at Glastonbury 2023

Lewis Capaldi’s back with new song ‘Survive’ tomorrow (Friday June 27), and fans believe the singer-songwriter could be playing a secret set at Glastonbury 2025 on the same day.

There have been rumours about a secret set from the Scotsman ever since the line-up for this year’s festival was revealed with gaps for ‘TBA’ artists, and in recent days fans have spotted billboards in both Capaldi’s birthplace of Glasgow and Castle Cary, near the town of Glastonbury.

The billboards feature what fans suspected could be lyrics to a new song. Alongside the potential lyrics – ”I’ve had my share of Monday mornings when I can’t get up” – there’s a phone number that fans can text, and when they do, they receive a snippet of ‘Survive’ as well as a message from a sender calling themselves ‘TBA’.

Another lyric from the snippet, “I’m gonna get up and live until the day that I die,” appears in one of the replies, too, while when fans click on the link, it says, “Wanna know who’s playing the secret set on Friday?”

One of the ‘TBA’ slots on Glastonbury’s line-up is on the Pyramid Stage at 4:55pm, before Alanis Morissette, Biffy Clyro, and The 1975’s headline performance, and fans think it could be a triumphant return to the stage for Capaldi. It would be his first time playing the festival since 2023, when he struggled with tics caused by Tourette’s and ended his set prematurely.

Because the ‘TBA’ set is shorter than the others, finishing at 17:30 for a 35-minute performance, fans think Capaldi could be finishing the set from two years ago.

Attendees helped him continue with his performance, and he was met with an outpouring of support from both those at the festival and at home. One mother of a teenager with Tourette’s hailed the performance as “amazingly powerful” and said that she was “in tears” over it.

He subsequently announced he was planning to take some time off. The singer said in a statement at the time that he was “still learning to adjust to the impact of my Tourette’s” and that his decision to call off his tour was “the most difficult decision of my life”.

The new single, meanwhile, is set to be the first new material from Capaldi since the extended edition of his most recent album, ‘Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly Sent’, which was surprise-released with new tracks including single ‘Strangers’ last January.

In parts of the world where it’s already Friday, fans have reacted with delight over the track.

Another wrote, “2025 vs 2017 oh how I missed you @LewisCapaldi and your flower theme,” while one said: “If Lewis Capaldi makes a comeback at Glastonbury I’ll fucking sob.”

Capaldi’s not the only artist rumoured to be playing a secret slot, either. There’s another ‘TBA’ slot on Friday, opening the Woodsies stage at 11am, while attendees are also trying to work out who ‘Patchwork’  – set to appear on the Pyramid Stage on Saturday – is.

Some suspected Haim, who have been dropping hints about their love for Glasto of late, but a cryptic Instagram post from Chappell Roan has led fans to believe it may now be her instead. In the post, she held up a homemade patchwork blanket.

Lorde is another name who has been rumoured, and she appeared to confirm that she’s set for the 11am Woodsies slot tomorrow by posting a photo of the tent on her Instagram story. The singer, whose fourth album ‘Virgin’ comes out tomorrow, previously said that she’d be “pretty keen” to make an appearance.

Pulp have been tipped for a secret set too, though both frontman Jarvis Cocker and keyboardist Candida Doyle have been quick to dismiss the rumours.
