'Georgie & Mandy' Just Made Meemaw's 'Young Sheldon' Storyline Much Darker
Although legal sports betting has seen a major uptick in recent years, one doesn't expect a broad sitcom to feature such a dark and sobering subplot as Meemaw's gambling parlor in Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage. Yet, after brushing off Meemaw's penchant for betting and running a sports book for others as a lighthearted comedic quirk, real financial and emotional consequences hit the Cooper family and others in Season 1, Episode 14, "A Sportsbook and a Breakup."
