Linkin Park announce first Australian shows in 13 years

Today (August 11), Mike Shinoda, Emily Armstrong and co. took to social media to announce their first Australian tour in over a decade. The tour will kick off in March next year, and currently consists of three dates.

The Australian leg of the ‘From Zero’ world tour will begin in Brisbane on March 3 at the Entertainment Centre, followed by a stop in Melbourne on March 8 at the Rod Laver Arena. The current slate of shows is scheduled to end on March 14 in Sydney at the Qudos Bank Arena. It is currently unknown if more dates will be added.

Artist pre-sales go live from 9am local time on Monday, August 18 until August 22. Vodafone and Commbank Yello Mastercard pre-sales begin August 19 at 11am, while Live Nation pre-sales run from noon August 21 until 10am on August 22. General tickets go on sale at 11am local time on August 22.

The band are currently on their North American trek, and will continue across South America late into the year. They recently performed at Wembley Stadium in late June, and they’ve since shared official footage of ‘The Emptiness Machine’ from that concert.

When they announced their comeback, Shinoda opened up about the “culture” of the new Linkin Park line-up, saying it feels like the “best we’ve had”. As well as Armstrong joining the line-up, drummer Colin Brittain has also joined the band, following the departure of founding member Rob Bourdon. Founding guitarist Brad Delson is also absent from the group’s comeback tour, but is still working with them on new music.

While some fans were divided over the comeback following Bennington’s death, as the band started the live shows, Shinoda explained that this version of Linkin Park was “not about erasing the past”.

He then explained why Linkin Park chose to keep their band name for the relaunched line-up, and added that he is “not sure” if they will make new recordings of older songs that feature the late frontman.

More recently, the band revealed the one song they will no longer play live following Chester Bennington’s death, and shared their latest singles, ‘Up From The Bottom’ and ‘Unshatter’.
