Rocket announce debut album ‘R Is For Rocket’ and share scuzzy single ‘Wide Awake’

Rocket have announced their debut album ‘R Is For Rocket’ and shared the latest single ‘Wide Awake’ – listen below.
The Los Angeles quartet and former NME Cover stars will release their first full-length record on October 3 via Transgressive, and as well as ‘Wide Awake’, it will also include the recent singles ‘One Million’ and ‘Crossing Fingers’.
The new single is one of Rocket’s heaviest songs to date, a pounding, scuzzy-guitar-laden track that sees Alithea Tuttle’s breezy vocals compete against the razor-sharp discordance of the rest of the band. Watch the video, where the band are left home alone and ordered not to play any loud music, here:
Speaking about the album, the band have said: “’R Is For Rocket’ is about relationships, the most important part of life; relationships with your friends, your parents, your girlfriend or boyfriend, and most importantly your relationship with yourself. ‘Wide Awake’ is the perfect balance of all the elements of this record, after years in the making and countless versions, we’re excited to finally share it.”
‘R Is For Rocket’ tracklist:
- ‘The Choice’
- ‘Act Like Your Title’
- ‘Crossing Fingers’
- ‘One Million’
- ‘Another Second Chance’
- ‘Pretending’
- ‘Crazy’
- ‘Number One Fan’
- ‘Wide Awake’
- ‘R Is For Rocket’
The band played a string of UK headline shows last month and have further shows to come in August supporting The Smashing Pumpkins, as well as an appearance at Green Man Festival. They then head back to the States for more headline shows in October and November – see all of the dates here, find UK tickets here and US tickets here.
Last year, the band spoke to NME about the creation of their music: “Our taste varies so much that in order to keep making the music we want to make, we felt like we had to introduce some new elements to our songwriting.” Tuttle said: “We tried not to lean on any one genre but rather incorporate everything we love as musicians into something that feels uniquely our own.”
