‘Sirens’ star wants a second season: “I would love to do more”

Sirens star Meghann Fahy has said she would “love” to make a second season of the new Netflix miniseries.

Fahy, known for her roles in the second season of The White Lotus and Netflix’s The Perfect Couple, plays Devon, a woman caring for her ill father (Bill Camp) in the show. Devon confronts her sister (Milly Alcock), who works for Julianne Moore’s Michaela, a character Devon believes might be a murderous cult leader.

Created by Molly Smith Metzler (Maids), all five episodes of the dark comedy have been streaming on Netflix since May 22, and Fahy has confirmed that she would love to get the chance to return to the Devon character in the future.

“It ends in a very natural way, but I can imagine what the characters’ worlds become,” she told Variety. “I, for one, would love to know what happens to Michaela, where she goes. So I think it’s definitely within the realm of possibility. We didn’t talk about it on set, but I would love to do more.”

In the same interview, Fahy explained that Devon allowed her to embrace a different kind of character to what she has become used to. “Devon is one of my favorite characters I’ve ever played,” she said. “There’s something so liberating about her, because she is so relentlessly herself, regardless of her environment. She says what’s on her mind, and doesn’t think about how other people feel about that. Which is certainly not how I move through the world.”

In a four-star review of the show, NME has said: “When the pace slackens, which isn’t very often over five hour-long episodes, the performances keep you hooked. Both Alcock and Fahy are brilliant at peeling back the layers of women who are more complicated – and even more damaged – than they appear.”

“Smizing dictator Michaela may look like a schlocky role for Moore, an Oscar-winner who generally works with indie directors like Pedro Almodóvar and Todd Haynes, but she imbues it with her usual gift for ambiguity. Is Michaela a monster or actually a bit less monstrous than she seems? Sirens will keep you guessing until the end as these fabulous birds of a feather really show their talons.”
