'Star Wars: Tales of the Underworld' Review: Uneven Anthology Hits & Misses

Star Wars: Tales of the Underworld gives two of the galaxy far, far away's most awesome characters their well-deserved time in the spotlight. The six-episode series is the third animated anthology after Tales of the Jedi and Tales of the Empire. It's split into two, three-episode arcs that follow the origin story of the ruthless bounty hunter Cad Bane (Corey Burton) and what happened to the former Jedi padawan turned Sith assassin, Asajj Ventress (Nika Futterman), after the events of 2015's Dark Disciple novel. The timelines explored are handled differently with varying levels of success. The Ventress aspect is thrilling, action-packed, and thoughtful, while Bane's evolution is obvious and predictable given the weight of what happens.
