'Superman' Proves "Go Woke, Go Broke" Is a Joke With Opening Weekend Box Office
Look up at the box office! It's a bird! It's a plane! It's Superman taking the number 1 spot with $125 million in its three-day opening weekend! As expected, Superman dominated the box office, and, judging by the word-of-mouth reviews from critics and audiences, the movie appears poised for a healthy box office run and a strong start to the DCU. Yet, leading up to the film's release, there was concern about an "anti-woke" backlash to the Man of Steel's latest outing following James Gunn's comments about the movie being an immigrant story, which then spiraled into a bigger culture war.
