'The Ritual' Review: A Demonically Dull Possession Film
Many actors have dabbled in the possession subgenre: Last year, Russsell Crowe gave it yet another go with The Exorcism, to mixed results. Now Al Pacino joins the list of Oscar winners trying their hand at exorcism horror, and he probably won't be the last to attempt what the late Max Von Sydow mastered in The Exorcist more than 50 years ago. The Ritual, hitting theaters this week, is based on a documented true story dating back almost 100 years, and also sees Pacino attempting a foreign accent once again. If you could accept how he spoke in the Prime series Hunters, maybe his accent is passable this time around, too.
