The pop star took to the stage at the iconic Chicago music festival last night (August 3) for a co-headline slot with A$AP Rocky. Her set followed on from headline performances from Rüfüs Du Sol and Twice the night before (2), KoRn and Olivia Rodrigo on Friday (1) and Tyler, The Creator and Luke Combs on Thursday (July 31).
To end the night with a bang, Carpenter didn’t just break out hits including ‘Espresso’, ‘Manchild’ and ‘Please Please Please’ – she also brought out Chicago’s own Earth, Wind & Fire for the occasion.
Coming out midway through her 17-song setlist, Carpenter introduced the funk legends to the Lollapalooza stage and joined them in covering their classic tracks ‘Let’s Groove’ and ‘September’.
“I thought we could let loose and just groove,” she said, introducing them. Check out footage from the moment below.

This isn’t the first time that the singer has brought out a special guest at her shows. Just last month, she was joined by Duran Duran for a rendition of ‘Hungry Like The Wolf’ at her second BST Hyde Park concert in London, and in 2024 she turned heads by having Kacey Musgraves, Christina Aguilera and more appear as special guests at her headline gigs.
She wasn’t the only headliner to bring out special guests while at Lollapalooza 2025 either, just two nights before, Olivia Rodrigo caught fans off guard by bringing out Weezer during her headline slot.
It marked a full circle moment for the ‘Vampire’ singer, who told the crowd that Weezer had headlined the first show she attended, and together they covered ‘Buddy Holly‘ and ‘Say It Ain’t So’.
Elsewhere at the festival, Gracie Abrams brought Robyn on stage for a duet of ‘Dancing On My Own’, and Cage the Elephant covered Ozzy Osbourne‘s ‘Changes’ in tribute to the heavy metal icon.
As for other Sabrina Carpenter news, her seventh studio album ‘Man’s Best Friend‘ is set for release on August 29, and has been previewed by the “song of the summer”, ‘Manchild‘. She also recently revealed the full tracklist, getting fans (and a puppy) to help share the song titles.
Her July 5 show at BST Hyde Park was given a glowing five-star review from NME, and praised as one that “effortlessly reinforces her command over modern pop”.
“Fireworks shoot out of the stage as Carpenter sings the biggest song of her career, which is only a year old, but somehow feels like the only song ever made,” the review read, referring to ‘Espresso’.
“It’s catapulted the singer from an artist orbiting the pop girl league tables to one of its reigning champs, but her command of this space is a testament to the years of graft it took to get there. All she needed was time.”
