When will ‘Ocean With David Attenborough’ be available to stream? 

Ocean With David Attenborough is hitting cinemas for one day only – but when can people expect to see it at home? Read on to find out.

The feature-length documentary is being released on the big screen on Thursday (May 8), timed to mark Attenborough’s 99th birthday. It takes viewers on a journey through the planet’s undersea habitats, with the legendary presenter also using the film as a platform to warn of ecological collapse and call for urgent action on ocean conservation.

In a clip released last week, Attenborough says: “When I first saw the sea as a young boy, it was thought of as a vast wilderness to be tamed and mastered for the benefit of humanity.”

“Now, as I approach the end of my life, we know the opposite is true. After living for nearly a hundred years on this planet, I now understand that the most important place on Earth is not on land, but at sea.”

“Today, it is in such poor health I would find it hard not to lose hope were it not for the most remarkable discovery of all. If we save the sea, we save our world.”

“After a lifetime of filming our planet, I’m sure nothing is more important,” he added.

When will Ocean With David Attenborough be available to stream?

After its big screen release on May 8, there will be select screenings in cinemas around the UK in the following days. Find the full cinema listings here.

After that, it will be available to stream on Disney+ from June 8, while it will also premiere on National Geographic on the same day at 8pm.

The film is a joint production between Silverback Films – the UK company behind many of Attenborough’s best-known work, including The Blue Planet and Planet Earth – and Open Planet Studios, which is known for scientific and environmental storytelling.

Attenborough will also return to the BBC this summer in the five-part documentary series Parenthood, which will explore the lengths that various species go to ensure the survival of their offspring in the wild.
