The second season of Wednesday is coming to Netflix, but who will Lady Gaga be playing in the new episodes?

The first season of The Addams Family spinoff aired in 2022 and quickly became the second most-streamed English language show on Netflix, and a second season was commissioned at the start of 2023.

The first four episodes of season two will drop on August 6, with the remaining four to follow on September 3. The opener will be titled ‘Here We Woe Again’ and is directed by Tim Burton – see the first six minutes of it below.

Jenna Ortega will, of course, return as the titular gothic teen, alongside Catherine Zeta-Jones, Fred Armisen and Luis Guzman. New additions to the cast include Steve Buscemi, Billie Piper, Evie Templeton and Noah Taylor, while guest appearances will come from Joanna Lumley, Thandiwe Newton and Haley Joel Osment.

According to an official synposis, “Wednesday returns to prowl the Gothic halls of Nevermore Academy, where fresh foes and woes await. This season, Wednesday must navigate family, friends and old adversaries, propelling her into another year of delightfully dark and kooky mayhem. Armed with her signature razor-sharp wit and deadpan charm, Wednesday is also plunged into a new bone-chilling supernatural mystery.”

Who is Lady Gaga playing in Wednesday season two?

Gaga was confirmed as joining the cast for the new season last November.

At a Tudum event last week, it was revealed that she will play Rosaline Rotwood, a legendary teacher at Nevermore Academy who specialises in the dark arts. The character is expected to appear in the second half of the season in September.

During an appearance at SXSW in March, Ortega opened up about working with Gaga: “It’s the best. She’s the best, definitely one of the most talented individuals I’ve ever worked with. It was just a really, really special environment to be there with her and Tim [Burton], two people that I respect and have been inspired by so much.”

“Then just finding out that she’s such a sweetheart and really kind and reserved, it’s very strange. I love that you never know what to expect from her, but you can always expect kindness and generosity,” Ortega continued.
