Why Pixar's 'Elio' Flopped at the Box Office
Elio is the first animated theatrical release from Disney’s Pixar animation studio since Inside Out 2, which grossed nearly $1.7 billion at the worldwide box office, becoming the highest-grossing animated film in history. Elio is the studio’s first original animated title since Elemental, which had the worst domestic box-office opening in the studio’s history in 2023 before making a surprising comeback and finishing its theatrical run with a worldwide gross of just under $500 million.
