Will duos mode come to ‘Elden Ring Nightreign’?

While Elden Ring Nightreign has been received mostly positively on the combat side, there are some dated multiplayer and matchmaking issues. One of those is the inability to play the game in duos, despite the game having solo and trio options.
Thankfully, it seems likely that FromSoftware will release the mode down the line, especially as someone has already modded in the option.
Unfortunately, FromSoftware hasn’t commented on whether or not they plan to implement a duos mode anytime soon in Elden Ring Nightreign. However, it does seem like an obvious option as it wouldn’t require much beyond scaling up enemies from the solo mode (which is set to be made easier already).
Speaking to IGN, the game’s director has already said they “overlooked and neglected” the duos option, focusing instead on three players. This can also be seen in how difficult the solo option is. The studio is already planning to provide balancing fixes for the solo option just a week after launch. This was announced on Twitter/X just after the game launched on May 30, 2025.
Despite FromSoftware not supporting the mode yet, one modder has already implemented a duos mode. Luke Yui previously created co-op mods for Elden Ring and Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon.
The mod can be seen in action on their YouTube channel, where they showed it off:
Therefore, we will hopefully see another mod or an official duos option from FromSoftware release sooner rather than later. We will keep this article updated with the latest from the developer as and when we hear it.
