Does 'Black Mirror' Season 7's "Plaything" Retcon "Bandersnatch" Endings?
With the loosest narrative strands teasing franchise continuity, Black Mirror Season 7, Episode 4, "Plaything" doesn't connect with the 2018 interactive movie Bandersnatch as much as you might expect. Black Mirror creator Charlie Booker has weighed in on the matter with a noncommittal answer that makes little logical sense. Although Booker claims Season 7's "Plaything" is now canon, he also believes that the episode has little to no bearing on the various "Bandersnatch" outcomes. Regarding what is real and perceived, "Plaything" only flirts with retconning Black Mirror's overarching narrative but never goes far enough.
