‘Hollow Knight: Silksong’ news could be coming this week

Hollow Knight: Silksong fans are expecting news about the long-awaited game to be shared this week.

Hollow Knight: Silksong was first announced back in 2019. Originally the game was set to be an expansion of 2017’s Hollow Knight but developers Team Cherry later turned it into a fully-fledged sequel. However, they missed a planned 2023 release date and updates have been few and far between.

Fans are expecting news about Hollow Knight: Silksong to be shared this week though. Sony are hosting a State Of Play presentation later today (June 4), Summer Games Fest is taking place on Friday (June 6) and there’s an Xbox showcase planned for Sunday (June 8).

Ahead of those showcases, it’s been reported that Team Cherry has been updating the Steam page for Hollow Knight: Silksong, ahead of a potential release date announcement. For the first time since 2019, developers have added a number of files to the backend.

“With all the showcases this week, I’m 100 per cent the biggest believer to exist,” one fan wrote on Reddit following the news. “I’m starting to believe it may actually come out this month,” said another.

Earlier this year, Nintendo confirmed Hollow Knight: Silksong would definitely launch this year after a trailer for the game was featured in a Switch 2 promo reel alongside news of a 2025 release date. Following the reveal, the Xbox Game Pass X account reminded fans that Hollow Knight: Silksong was still due to release Day One on the service.

Last year, developers were forced to confirm they were “still hard at work on the game” after fans began to speculate that Hollow Knight: Silksong had been cancelled due to a lack of updates from Team Cherry. It was a similar story in January when developer Matthew Griffin reassured fans that “the game is real, progressing and will release.”

In other news, Resident Evil fans also think a brand new game will be unveiled this week.
