Is ‘The Bear’ season five happening?

After four seasons, The Bear has become one of the most acclaimed shows of the modern TV landscape.

Created by Christopher Storer, the FX series follows successful chef Carmy Berzatto who returns to his hometown of Chicago to manage a kitchen at his late brother’s sandwich shop.

Jeremy Allen White leads the show’s cast, alongside Ayo Edebiri, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Lionel Boyce, Liza Colón-Zayas, Abby Elliott, Matty Matheson, Oliver Platt and Edwin Lee Gibson.

Since the show debuted in 2022, it has won 21 Emmys in total, including Outstanding Comedy Series and Outstanding Directing for Storer.

Has The Bear been renewed for season 5?

At the time of writing, FX has not announced whether The Bear will continue beyond season four. A verdict on the show’s future will likely arrive in the coming weeks.

Speaking to Variety, FX boss John Landgraf said the decision is down to showrunner Christopher Storer and whether he has more “story to tell”.

“These decisions are really creative decisions,” Landgraf said when asked if season four would be the show’s last. “It was Sterlin Harjo who made a decision that Rez Dogs was a three-season series. And so it’s really Chris [Storer’s] decision on The Bear.

“It’s about, how much more story does he have to tell? I mean, obviously, I’m hoping he has more than one more season of story to tell. But not to the extent that if there was one great season or three mediocre ones, I’d rather have one great one. You just have to follow the creative.”

When could a potential season 5 be released?

A new season of The Bear has been released annually ever since the show debuted in June 2022. As such, any potential fifth season could be released as early as June 2026.
