Mortal Kombat II is hoping to pull off a flawless victory on the big screen when the highly anticipated sequel opens in theaters this October, and that’s saying something after how poorly the first film was received four years ago. Sure, the COVID-19 pandemic played its role, but the truth is that Mortal Kombat's shoddy storytelling had fans screaming "fatality" for all the wrong reasons in 2021. With the addition of Karl Urban’s smartass Johnny Cage in the new movie, however, expectations are at an all-time high for the fandom. Plus, producer Todd Garner is anticipating promising returns that could translate into a long future for the beloved video game franchise on the big screen.
