Dialogue from a Scarlett Johansson film is among the audio being used to scare away wolves causing problems for farms in America.

Quadcopter drones have played music by AC/DC as well as audio from violent film scenes in an effort by the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) to scare off wolves that have been preying on cattle in Oregon and California. The Irish Independent reports that one recording is of Johansson’s famous fight scene with Adam Driver from the drama Marriage Story.

The 2019 film starred the actors as a married couple whose divorce pushes them both to their limits as they fight for custody of their son. It was nominated for six Oscars, with co-star Laura Dern winning Best Supporting Actress for her performance as Johansson’s character’s lawyer.

According to the article, the drones have dramatically reduced the number of wolf attacks, with the number of cows killed by wolves falling from 11 over a 20-day period to two over the next 85 days in Southern Oregon.

With over 20 years in the industry, Scarlett Johansson recently became Hollywood’s most bankable lead actor. Last month, it was confirmed that the success of her blockbuster Jurassic World Rebirth put the star at the top of the list of the highest-grossing lead actors of all time, with $14.8billion (£10.8billion) in box office for her films across her career in leading or ensemble roles, according to The Numbers.

In June, she joined Matt Damon, Zayn Malik and other entertainment names in signing an open letter to US Congress speaking out against the defunding of food and medical aid programs as part of US President Donald Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill.

The letter called on politicians to “reject cuts to these vital programs that help millions put food on their tables and provide access to health care”.
