‘Spider-Noir’ series unveils first look at Nicolas Cage in costume

Spider-Noir

Nicolas Cage’s Marvel series Spider-Noir unveiled its first look at the title character, as well as details of two different viewing options.

The miniseries, produced by Amazon MGM Studios, is inspired by the Spider-Noir character Cage voiced in the animated Spider-verse films. This live action version is a direct adaptation of the Spider-man Noir comic series.

During Amazon’s annual upfront presentation, the first image of Cage in costume was unveiled along with the news that the show will be available to watch in colour as well as black and white.

The official synopsis reads: “Spider-Noir tells the story of an aging and down on his luck private investigator (Cage) in 1930s New York, who is forced to grapple with his past life as the city’s one and only superhero”.

Cage’s co-stars include Lamorne Morris (New Girl), Brendan Gleeson (Joker: Folie a Deux), and Jack Huston (Fargo). It will consist of eight episodes and air on linear channel MGM+ in 2026, before being available on Prime Video worldwide the day after.

A self-professed comic book fan, Cage has played many Marvel and DC characters in the past. As well as Spider-man Noir, he has played Ghost Rider in two live action films, the character Big Daddy in comedy Kick-Ass, and voiced Superman in the animation Teen Titans Go! To The Movies.

Cage was notoriously cast as Superman in the live action adaptation by Tim Burton, which was in production in the late nineties but fell through due to creative differences. The actor would be able to portray that version of the character over 20 years later, appearing as an alternate universe version of Superman in 2023’s The Flash.

Recently, Nicolas Cage shared how he is mistaken for musician Nick Cave almost every day, with the singer replying with his own funny story about being mistaken for the actor.
