'Transformers' Franchise Could Bring Michael Bay Back for New Film
The long-gestating merger between Paramount and Skydance closed last week, and the new studio leadership group immediately started reviewing their priorities and plans for various franchises, including Transformers, which has suffered diminishing returns at the box office through the years. It went from grossing over $1 billion per film to a little over $400 million, with 2023's Transformers: Rise of the Beasts being the lowest-grossing live-action film in the series so far – but the studio might be about to make a divisive move to reignite the franchise.
