Whodunnit? Murder in a Small Town Season 2 Trailer Highlights the Big Names Coming to Gibsons
If you followed us last fall, you know how much we enjoyed FOX’s Murder in a Small Town.
Led by EP Jeff Wachtel, it returned us to the blue-sky procedurals, lighter cases, and charming romances.
With all the cast additions, it’s one of the most anticipated Fall premieres in this upcoming TV season.
While I’m excited to see Gibsons fleshed out to become more of a community by adding more characters like Mayor Christie Holman (Marcia Gay Harden), I’m also nervous about losing one of their finest officers.
Since FOX has released an extended First-look Trailer, there is reason to celebrate.
While Murder in a Small Town teased details about the upcoming cases, it also showcased Karl and Cassandra and how the new mayor creates problems for them.
They appear to be deeply in love, but Cassandra’s political plans may not align with those of Karl or the mayor. The mayor could alleviate some of Karl’s limited resources if he plays ball with her.
Will he choose his career or Cassandra?
Jamie Chung (Lovecraft Country) appears as Lanni Soo, a career-driven DA with an offer for Karl. As mentioned, Gibsons looks like a town with the new detectives, the mayor, and now a DA.
This could help flesh out the show and community interactions.
Murder in a Small Town Season 2 is jam-packed with even more big-name actors than the first season. Some even return.
During the second season, Karl’s jurisdiction expands, leaving him with limited resources and an increased caseload.
Many of these murders were triggered by passion or betrayal, and nothing is as it seems.
Some of these cases include a dead body at a local wedding between two feuding families and a double kidnapping that escalates into a bigger crime.
Golden Globe and Emmy Award-winner Camryn Manheim (Law & Order) guest-stars as Jocelyn Tait. She’s a tough matriarch who has lived her life in the shadow of a family feud and attends a Gibsons wedding.
Like many other detectives, Karl sees things differently when investigating crimes.
He often sees cases as a painting and studies patterns. This season, his mother’s artwork is a key piece, both professionally and personally.
Concerning art, Noah Reid (Schitt’s Creek) reprises his role as Tommy Cummins, the high school art teacher whose deadly paintings landed him behind bars.
Does he have a score to settle with Karl, and will he put Holly in danger again?
Other notable guest stars include Tyler Posey (Teen Wolf) as a former party boy anxious to leave his past behind, and Sara Canning (The Vampire Diaries), a woman mourning the loss of her younger sister.
We’re getting lots of juicy murders, tantalizing betrayal, and fun romance.
Over to you, Murder in a Small Town Fanatics. Which guest star are you most excited about?
Check out your first look at the new characters, including Marcia Gay Harden’s Mayor Holman:
