It takes place in 1900 and follows three lighthouse keepers who mysteriously vanish from the remote Flannan Isles in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland after a wooden trunk comes into their possession. Working-class men with nearly nothing to their name, the ultimate dilemma they encounter is a relatable one that forces viewers to contemplate what they might do if presented with the same circumstances.
