There are already plans for a ‘KPop Demon Hunters’ live-action remake

A live-action remake of the hit Netflix fantasy film KPop Demon Hunters is reportedly already in the works.
The animation was released onto the streaming platform on June 20 and earlier this week, they announced that it had quickly become their most watched original animated film of all time.
Now, in a report from The Wrap, it appears that Netflix is already working on a live-action version of the story, as well as two animated sequels and even a stage musical, with the streamer said to believe that they may have found their own Frozen franchise.
The film, produced by Sony Music Animation, is directed by Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans and based on a story conceived by Kang. It follows a K-pop girl group named Huntr/x, who lead double lives as demon hunters and face off against a rival boy band The Saja Boys, whose members are secretly demons.
Arden Cho, May Hong and Ji-young Yoo voice the three members of Huntr/x, while Ejae, Audrey Nuna and Rei Ami provide their singing voices. The fictional group’s single ‘Golden’ is the current UK Number One single, after becoming only the second K-pop song ever to achieve that feat, after Psy’s ‘Gangnam Style’.
The Saja Boys’ song ‘Your Idol’ has also seen major chart success, reaching the second spot on the US charts last month, which means they have surpassed BTS’ record for the highest-charting K-pop boy band in the country. BTS responded to the achievement by posting a video of themselves singing along to ‘Your Idol’.
With the focus now shifting to potential sequels, Kang has spoken to Screen Rant, suggesting that she would like to return to the world of KPop Demon Hunters as she believed that “there are a lot of pockets that we can explore”.
Co-director Appelhans also told People that there are “so many unanswered questions, in a good way, and so many avenues that could be their own story”.
